Governor Newsom Has Appointed Jill Hamer to the California Privacy Protection Agency Board
SACRAMENTO – On August 26, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Jill Hamer to the California Privacy Protection Agency Board.
Ms. Hamer is an experienced C-level business executive and board director with more than 25 years of experience working with private and public entities on various initiatives, including digital transformation, proactive data privacy/protection, and cyber risk management strategies.
“It is a privilege to welcome Jill Hamer to the CPPA Board,” said Jennifer M. Urban, Board Chairperson. “Her extensive leadership experience in data privacy and corporate governance brings an immensely valuable perspective to our work of protecting Californians' privacy rights.”
“I also want to extend my deep gratitude to outgoing Board Member Jeffrey Worthe for his dedicated service to the CPPA Board. His thoughtful, practical approach and commitment to our mission have helped us advance the Agency's work of safeguarding the privacy rights of Californians.”
Ms. Hamer has already begun her board service and looks forward to providing her perspective on the Agency's policies.

The California Privacy Protection Agency is governed by a five-member board. According to the Agency's implementing statute, the Governor appoints the board chairperson and one board member; the Rules Committee of the Senate appoints one board member; the Speaker of the Assembly appoints one board member; and the Attorney General appoints one board member.
